The World Stage of Salvador Dali
The World Stage of Salvador Dali
The Dali Museum in Spain is the piece of art. Having been a fan of Salvador Dali's work since I was a teen, when Roderick said he bought museum tickets and train passes to Figures, I leapt for joy. We had seen a gallery showing of his work a couple of years ago in Monterey, but this was different. This was his creation. His art; his curating his art. We were wowed! His sense of visual placement heightens the senses playing with themes of real and imaginary. It was stunning.
The museum was a reclaimed theatre. The design kept the original structure and bones of the space making it a metaphor of displaying or performance of paintings, sculpture, mosaics, and of course the visual relationships between objects. It was a masterpiece. As we wound our way to the Gift Shop, I can feel myself wanting to yell out, "ENCORE!".
As an artist, I am believer and advocate for enjoying the art of others. It stimulates my inspiration. If I really thought about it, I could see themes developing within my own work. I encourage others to do the same seeking out a museum or gallery and buying the artist's book.
