Visiting Cezanne Studio
Paul Cezanne is from Provence. As he moved to Paris briefly, he returned to Southern France making his art and living his dream. My hubby and I were over the moon to see his studio! It was our chance to be in his space, to see what he made into art, and experience the magic that is all Cezanne.
My first impression of the Studio was the soft light. It was a dream with floor to ceiling windows, light hard-wood flooring, and an open area for setup and takedown. Everything was about the light. It was soft and tantalizing.
The space was filled with several of his still life setups, supplies, and a rather large ladder. The wooden table with apples and bottle of wine caught my eye. He painted it many times. I made a photograph of my own interpretation.
Cezanne is both loved and despised. His work was revolutionary in transitioning the Impressionists to Cubists. As I appreciate and enjoy his work, I see both the artists coming before him and those that created well after his death. My takeaway from this experience is a pursuit to create art that is uniquely mine. It may not be for everyone and it will be my pushing the Artistic World forward.
